Prepaying

Another recommended part of the pre-planning process is pre-paying. When choosing to pre-pay for a funeral, there are a number of different options. As with pre-planning a funeral, we suggest that the first step be an appointment with one of our family members and pre-planning counselors. From there, we can decide what options best fit the financial needs of the family, couple or individual.

One can choose to pre-pay for the entire service in all at one time, or, one can chose to pre-pay for a certain portion of the service but not pay for the whole thing. One can also pre-pay all or a certain amount without having any input as to how, exactly, that money will be used in the services.

Jewell-Rittman has payment plans available. Some are structured, complete with payment coupon books, and some are not as structured. Within those confines, there are options to pay for the whole thing, or only a part. The method and means of payment, though based on the need and ability of the family, are still at the discretion of Jewell-Rittman. We are a family, and have a deep understanding of the needs and desires of families.

The money is held in a third party trust or an insurance policy; we have a licensed insurance specialist on staff to help with the details of such arrangements. Families, couples or individuals can chose to assign an insurance policy for the payment of the funeral services.

As with the general process of pre-planning, pre-paying can be incredibly helpful for families and loved ones. Again, in a time of great stress and sadness, family members and loved ones are not in a mindset to be thinking about finances. Often, there is a deep sense of guilt and obligation when it comes to funeral services as well. Pre-paying for a service ensures that family members and loved ones will be free of all those feelings. It will leave them free to begin their grief journey in peace and security.
